One thing I gotta’ say about my location is that I’m at a terrific junction with “straight shots” to pretty much everywhere. If I take a left on Sahara, plenty of shopping. If I take a right on Sahara, it takes me directly to The Strip. I can take St.Louis directly to The Stratosphere (a really fun ride at night as the Vegas icon looms larger and larger). If I take a left on Boulder Highway, I have access to the big “locals” casinos. If I take a right on Boulder, it becomes Fremont Street and takes me straight into Downtown Vegas.
Downtown, of course, is the original “Strip” before all the mega casino/resorts moved to Las Vegas Boulevard. Therefore, these are some of the original “off-strip” hotels. Granted, these days they are certainly not places you’d have a family vacation, but you can’t help but love these old signs…
Of course some folks prefer the comforts of a full-blown resort like The Golden Nugget. It’s home, of course, to the largest gold nugget in the world and perhaps the only waterslide that goes through a shark tank.
