The next leg of The Journey is just around the corner. Upcoming milestones: 5 more working days, 10 days until I leave.
I won’t go very far. It’s less than 100 miles to Miami, Oklahoma. But I have a feeling it’ll feel like an entirely different world. Civilization. Internet. Cell phone coverage. Casinos. TIME. I plan to get caught up on things, do some more job searching, try some small buy-in poker tournaments to produce an income, and rehearse endlessly for my upcoming training in Branson.
My campsite is free the first 3 nights and $10 per night afterwards. This includes water, electric, and a dump station — no shower facilities. If I don’t locate a nearby truck stop, it appears I’ll be sponge bathing. All this said, it sounds positively DREAMY, at the moment.
As I trek around this region all of February, I have little doubt weather will have an impact. As much as I’ve been programmed lately to monitor the weather on a daily basis, I think I can manage my travel days around the rain, snow, and wind — it’s a pretty short trip to Branson. What I really hope to avoid is having to skirt 48 Ugly*, again — especially for these short 7 – 10 day stays. But as long as my tires hold up until spring, I’m happy (Mic and I replaced my damaged tire only to discover 3 more that have wear on them. Add “alignment” to the list).
Hey! My faucet is dripping! My plumbing has been frozen for over 3 days so I think I’ll close now so I can open it up…
Happily but nervously anticipating : February 3rd.
