It’s official! I’m settling in Phoenix for the winter with some seemingly regular employment starting in November. The poker club I’ll be working at gave me 17 shifts. I’m not sure I wanted that kind of workload, but I am very relieved at the moment. They are generally 4-hour shifts but the whole idea is that I can combine fuel costs and kill two birds with one stone — playing* and dealing* poker. I’m excited to see how it works out.
The bus tour start-up will also begins very soon. In fact we’re meeting up tomorrow to take the actual tour and have our first meeting. I have no idea how this position will pan out but I’m very excited about the possibilities: Perhaps… 1) a decent-paying sales position working with tourists 2) an eventual tour-guide position or 3) a good contact for a potential partnership in one of my business ventures.
The great thing about the poker club is that once per month you get your schedule by bidding on each individual shift! Therefore, I can practically design my own schedule. In fact, I loaded up all my shifts in the first 3 weeks and took the last one off. Then, after I do that I can go to www.meetup.com and plug in the rest of my schedule with my varied interests. These include writer’s workshops, volunteering, hiking, and photography. I also hope to find some computer and social media support groups.
And the weather seems perfect for romance these days! The desert nights are fabulous right now (and so is Kitten).
