My initial plan when I boarded the train was to have sort of a round-trip adventure where I’d get off every 2nd or 3rd stop and explore.  I didn’t get very far —  I found downtown Tempe.  I knew as soon as I got off the train I was in for a nice evening.  This is a college town.  In fact, Arizona State University was getting ready to blow out the Northern Arizona football team and the mood was very festive at the local eateries.

The aromas were amazing — burgers, steak, barbeque, Mexican — every restaurant with open-air settings and large patios.  I’m certain this is the best-smelling town west of New Orleans  and will probably make this my destination when the NFL kicks off next Wednesday.

I’m afraid my photos don’t do downtown Tempe any justice.  Poor angles, overexposure.  I’m going to try again at a later date…

Good to see you’re doing ok and survived the heat. Take your time, relax and enjoy the sights when you move again.
