RiverCat Journal: Crinkly Fries

Current Venue:  Las Vegas, NV
Campground: Riviera RV Park

The shoebox may become a permanent fixture…

While moving sidewalks at airports are fairly standard these days, there’s something about the one at Bally’s Casino that feels exceptionally futuristic to me.  I think it’s because it feels like you’re being transported through a cavern.  In the evening the luminescent lighting adds to the effect.  It’s the little things that please The Ramblin’ RiverCat…

For instance, in the middle of my poker session I get extremely hungry and head off in search of some quick food.  No such thing on the main floor — all sit-down restaurants.  So, I head to the “basement” via an escalator in a remote corner of the resort.  Downstairs is sort of a lonely little mini-mall with a little food court area.  Oh, and this…

Just a full-blown sportsbook!  Granted, you’ll find even bigger and more impressive sportsbooks in Las Vegas –  but certainly none in a stranger location.  I also like the 50’s diner feel.  And that it’s across from Nathan’s Hot Dogs…

One of the challenges of being a poker player on a low-carb diet is sometimes having very limited meal options.  My choices came down to paying $4.95 for a hot dog (not gonna’ happen) or have the chicken strips and eating only a couple of the french fries…

Look at this!  How many of these scrumptious crinkly fries do you think I ate?!  Answer:

Every last one of them!
