I treated myself to a bit of “normalcy” today.  I finally made it to Bartlesville, Oklahoma!

I invested $30 in a poker tournament and felt like the RiverCat of old — winning $260.

I’m now at Starbucks enjoying internet access.  It feels almost like “normal civilization” again — almost.

I purchased a pair of slippers a couple days ago.  Six dollars.  It’s amazing how this simple solution to an everyday problem can take over 40 years to figure out.  After all, I am a “dude” and slippers aren’t exactly “cool.”  It didn’t cross my mind for the longest time that it’s not necessary to suffer the cold hardwood floors and constantly track dirt and kitty litter every time I shuffle my feet.  This is sort of a life-changing realization!

I now enjoy my “morning” ritual that much more.  From noon til 2 I cozy up to my coffee and book in my robe and…slippers.  It still seems a bit odd to say.  (Please, PLEASE don’t tell the cool kids about this)!
